New Hutch.lk Cliq Unlimited Review and speed tests.
UPDATE: Check new Hutch CliQ 4G Test
As of today Tuesday, May 26, 2020 while in COVID-19 lock down it is better to test the internet connections as they may hit peak capacity with most of their customers are working from home.
I have been using Etisalat Cliq before Hutch acquired it and now they offer new 3G unlimited time based internet packages. Lets begin the tests.
This is a normal Hutch 4G SIM and I have activated MB based data packs and test their 4G speeds.
(I have tested 3 times and got the best speed shown in the speed test)
This is how the Hutch Cliq app works and Packages activation procedures.
After the activation, the connection has switched to the 3G network and it won’t connect to 4G while registered with Cliq app. To go back to 4G we have to unregister from the Hutch Cliq app.
After activation I have tested several times and this is the best result
I have tested 10mb.bin file form several servers and the time to finish the downloading is around 42 seconds. So the Math here is
10mb ÷ 42sec = 0.238mb
0.238mb x 60sec = 14.28MB per minute and 857mb for an hour
Let’s say 850 MB per hour (best case scenario)
850 MB x 24 hours = 20,400 MB or 19.8 GB per day
So the Data for 7 days x 20,400 MB = 142,800 MB or 139.45 GB
New Hutch Cliq 3G unlimited 7 Days Data limit could be around 139.45 GB ?Old Etisalat Cliq 7 Days Data limit around 15GB as we all known.
After these tests I wanted to know exactly how much they offer data before it hit FUP and I found this on their site.
Finally I found the treasure map of their FUP form their official Hutch selfcare app. It’s hidden under the packages -> Other menu
So the Hutch 3G unlimited 7 day package has FUP 102,402 MB (Nearly 100GB)Can’t believe my math here I’m forgetting some digits. Hutch Cliq 3G unlimited 7 days has nearly 100 GB you can find other treasures under their other packages
So guys we are totally wrong about total 7 Day Downloadable GB that we calculated earlier as 139.45 GB. you will have that speed till it hit 6 GB after that they reduced the speed to 1Mb/s so I tested it:
Hutch Cliq 7 days FUP applied speed test
So the new calculation is here with time it took to download our 10mb file is 1min and 22sec
10 MB ÷ 82sec = 0.121 MB
0.121 MB x 60sec = 7.31 MB per minute and 439 MB for an hour
Let’s say 440 MB per hour (best case scenario)
440 MB x 24 hours = 10,560 MB or 10.31 GB per day
Total data 6.5 days x 10,560 MB (FUP) = 72.18 GB + 6Gb (12 Hour Non FUP) = 78Gb
Theoretically with their speed limit to hit (FUP 100 GB) this limit you have to download more than 7 days ? (9 Days?) (unlimited 7 days. I know little laughing in the head)
Costs
Price for 7 Days = Rs.298
Reliable GB for 7 Days = 78 GB
Price for 1 GB = Rs.3.82
So is this the cheapest internet package in the world ?
Final thoughts
Is it truly unlimited ?
Well no, they have FUP, but it’s unlimited because you will never hit that limit If you are a downloader, Youtuber or an online video lover you will hate this .If you are a web surfer, news paper reader or book reader you will love this.
The new Etisalt Cliq was slow but never disconnected and the old Hutch Cliq has lot of dropouts and no internet at all.
